Meet the Team
Matthew Lester BSc. Dip LA, ANZILA.
Matt is a director, and has a strong 17 year background in private, public and commercial projects.
His professional strengths are recognising and creating a strong site planning component in each project, leading through to a clear recognition of the sites’ individuality and character. These skills have enabled the breadth of experience mentioned above.
Matt is also a clear communicator and this combined with his project management experience has meant much involvement in public consultation and design team involvement and leadership.
Matt loves spending time with family and friends, has a variety of outdoor sports interests and is the chairman of the Waikuku Community Group.
Blair Quane BLA (Hons).
Blair is a director and has 8 years experience with the company.
He is an experienced landscape architect in large scale commercial and public projects as well as residential design in the seaside and hill areas of Canterbury.
Blair’s expertise focuses on the documentation, drafting, and project management of projects using his knowledge of AutoCAD and Photoshop.
He is also responsible for the management of the office which draws on his experience in local group leadership and management.
Blair’s outside interests centre around the surf with surf lifesaving, IRB racing, lifeboat training and presidency of the Sumner Surf Club.
Tracey Ower BSc. Dip LA, ANZILA.
Tracey has recently joined our team as a Senior Landscape Architect, having been in the profession for more than twenty years. She brings a wide range of experience, particularly in the landscape design of educational and private projects. For some years she has been based in Mid-Canterbury and latterly Banks Peninsula, and has a sound knowledge of these areas.
Tracey’s interests include sailing, camping and biking with family and friends. She has also been on her local school’s Board of Trustees for the past 5 years.
Jim Redfearn
Jim has recently joined the office as a CAD draftsperson. He has experience in construction drawings and scheduling with an engineering background. He brings his construction knowledge and strong sense of detail to the team.
Jim is a keen ironman with a range of other cultural interests and too many pets to name.
Marnie Kent
Marnie is the practice administrator who is responsible for the practice as well as being involved in project issues. She has a strong background with public bodies and smaller organisations.
She has a passion for environmental issues and has been an active campaigner both here and in Australia.
Other Personnel:
Earthwork has the resources of offices in Wellington and Hawkes Bay to call on if required (totaling five landscape architects). This association allows knowledge and inspiration sharing as well as pooling of resources when needed.
